Pre-pectoral Breast Reconstruction with Nipple/Areola Reconstruction

This patient was referred for consultation for breast reconstruction with plans to undergo mastectomies of both breasts for breast cancer. Dr. Marvin Spann, Board Certified Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon, performed breast reconstruction with anatomically shaped silicone breast implants wrapped in Alloderm collagen sheeeting, placed on top of the muscle. Reconstruction in the pre-pectoral space prevents the animation deformity that is often observed with chest muscle flexion when the implant is placed under the muscle. In addition, her mastectomy scar was placed at the level of her breast fold so that her reconstructed breast is smooth and natural in appearance without the scar that runs through the center of the breast, that is often seen in breast reconstruction. She subsequently received nipple and areola reconstruction. Her final reconstructed appearance is of soft, smooth, natural appearing breasts, nipples, and areolas. She's very happy with her outcome and feels that her breasts look and feel much better than her natural breasts ever did.
