Pre-Pectoral Breast Reconstruction after Nipple Sparing Mastectomies

Pre-pectoral Reconstruction

This patient was referred for evaluation for breast reconstruction as she was to undergo bilateral mastectomies for breast cancer. Because of the size and volume of her breasts, the decision was made for her to have nipple sparing mastectomies. She had breast reconstruction with Marvin Spann, MD, Board Certified Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon. She received 650cc tear drop shaped silicone implants placed on top of the muscle wrapped in Alloderm collagen sheet. The prepectoral reconstruction prevents the deformity often caused by movement of the pectoralis muscle seen in submuscular reconstructions. Her nipples remained intact with her incision at the lower outer edge of her breasts. These techniques used together resulted in a very natural appearing reconstruction. To most people, it's not apparent that this patient has had any surgery at all.
