Couture's own Dr. Grace Kim
Grace Kim, D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) is a board-certified dermatologist who practices both general and cosmetic dermatology. As an Asian-American, Dr. Kim understands the need for different techniques to best treat different ethnic skin types. Dr. Kim is an active member of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, American Osteopathic Association and American Academy of Dermatology, which helps her learn about the latest technology and techniques. One of her specialties is Mohs micrographic surgery, which removes skin lesions and cancer with minimally damage to the healthy skin and tissue for a more attractive result.
Education
Dr. Kim obtained her Bachelor’s in Science at the University of California, at Irvine where she concentrated on Biological Sciences and Applied Ecology. She obtained an Excellence in Research grant for two years. Her medical career began after she graduated on the Dean's List with a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University in Mare Island, California.
Special Acheivements
Having a passion for writing papers and speaking, Dr. Kim has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and is published in two textbooks, Comprehensive Dermatologic Drug Therapy 3rd Ed and Acne Scars: Classification and Treatment. During her residency at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, she placed in the top ten best speakers for her presentation on “Oral Spironolactone in Post-Teenage Female patient with Acne Vulgaris.” Dr. Kim also won an award in a writing competition sponsored by Bayer (the scientific corporation that includes Aleve®, Aspirin®, Claritin®, and more). She continues her special interest in helping women with adult acne by speaking about the uniqueness of the disease to medical students and residents.
Personal Interests
Dr. Kim is an animal lover and advocate. When Dr. Kim is not working, she enjoys spending time with her adorable baby girl, her husband and caring for her two horses; practicing English riding and jumping.
